LEGEND - BATTLE OF THE MOUNTAINS

To complete our term topic on Landforms - the children have read the story "Battle of the Mountains". This story tells:

The mountains in the central North Island once fought a great battle for the hand of Pīhanga, a mountain to the south of Tūrangi. Tribes have different versions of the story; the following is drawn from Ngāti Tūwharetoa tradition.

The story goes that in the days when the earth was young there were four mountain warriors: Tongariro, Taranaki (Mt Egmont), Tauhara and Pūtauaki (Mt Edgecumbe). There was also the beautiful maiden mountain, Pīhanga. The warrior mountains fought for her affections, and after a long battle Tongariro emerged the winner.

The defeated mountains decided that they should leave Tongariro’s domain. They were to travel as far as they could before dawn, when the rising sun would fix them to the spot. Pūtauaki headed east and by daybreak reached his present position at Kawerau. Tauhara travelled slowly, all the time looking back longingly at Pīhanga; he only reached the other end of the lake. Taranaki went west and still looks back, hoping for the day when he might return to avenge his defeat.

Trip to Arrowtown Museum

My weekend

On Saturday morning I got up and mum drove the family into Queenstown. When we  were there I asked for sushi.So we walked to the sushi box and had lunch. I had the special salmon it was delicious.Then we went to the ice skating rink. My sister and brother were using a penguin it was  hilarous. My mum went to the super market.

Weekend

On Sunday Lochie came over and we went to the park and school. Firstly we took  some shots with my basketball hoop. Lochie did not get many in. After that we went down to the park and Lochie and I went on the Tyre and I fell off a lot 'cause it kept on going side to side. Shortly after we went to the school and we brought my all blacks rugby ball and I kicked it so high is touched the top of the rugby post. We tried to go under the rugby post and tried to kick it over the post and we did.

When we went back to the house Lochie was trying to guess my password  to my iPod but then I changed it and he couldn't figure it until I told him. Then my mum asked Lochie and I to try her cupcakes and I loved them so did Lochie.

I could'nt believe my eyes

I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the window and saw my whole family in a gigantic pool equipped with a hydro slide, smoothie bar, beach umbrellas and towels. It was like a tropical beach party but with no beach!!!I put on my togs and goggles and jumped out the window... later on that evening i was tossing and turning in my bed and suddenly heard music. i looked out the window and again saw the most amazing sight! my family was having a 70's disco party!

School Disco

On Friday we had a School Disco. Unfortunately  the boys followed us the whole time but it was handy because they were giving us lollies and toys.So Stella, Sam, Georgia and I ran away but then Madi came and made us dance.People were being really loud so we couldn't listen to the music.the first thing I thought when walked in was WOW!! there was snowflakes, sparkles and people then Georgia came out of nowhere and scared me.

One day I was walking in a town but then... the volcano erupted and I saw everything. Everyone was running for their lives, man it was scary. Then I stepped on a bit of ash it was scorching . Then I looked back at the eruption that was happening and it looked like firework exploding in the sky. While I I was running for my life I tripped unexpectedly on to some ash and unfortunately I burnt my face and there was a mark on my cheek.

My friends and I were in the car, driving past a huge volcano. Then suddenly the huge volcano started to shake, spots of lava started bursting out and they got larger and larger. Ash started blowing out
of the crater, it was a MASSIVE eruption. Masses of lava started erupting out of it. My friends and I were really frightened when we

saw this. Rock started rolling down the mountainside, masses of steam and ash went shooting out like a shooting star. The lava was flowing down the sides of the volcano.

School Disco

School Disco

On Friday Arrowtown had a school disco. Lots of people went to the disco. I went,it was a lot of fun.There were a lot of snacks like lollies and chips and water.  You could also buy face paint and loom bands.There were lots of lights and decorations. People were having a great time. After a while it became really crowded.

I was having a good time with my friends you should have been there. There was a DJ it was Ms Neil. On the night of the disco Ms Neil was very sick that's why she used a robot voice. People were taking hats but giving them back after they did it.The whole night everyone had a fab time.

One of my friends found four dollars.  It was a winter theme.

SCHOOL DISCO

On Friday night lots of  kids went to the school disco.Most people were dressed up in sparkling
costumes. There were no fizzey drinks because last year most people went home sick. Lots of kids were dancing and eating sweets, everyone was having a FABULOUS time!

There ware SOOOOO many glow in the dark toys such as loom bands, glow sticks and glow stick glasses.The theme was AMAZING sparkly, white, sliver you guessed -  Winter, Winter Theme.

TWIN TOWERS

13 years ago there was a terrorist attack.  Groups of people were in American planes and the planes were flown into the twin towers. Fire engines and police got people out of the building, and risked their lives to save them.  Many people, firefighters and police died because they were trapped.  Some people jumped out of the windows.  The people died cause of the smoke, fire and the heat.

I think people hijacked a plane and when they took off it didn't work and when they fixed it they were supposed to go around the tower but they turned to early and crashed.

The firefighters smelt smoke from the fire and heard the crash from the building. Lots of firefighters heard explosions and fire frim in the buildings. Firefighters went into the building and battled the fire.  The twin towers were totally destroyed by the terrorist attack.  They called down all the planes and noticed two still flying.

Twin Towers Tragedy

There was a group of terrorists that hijacked four American planes.  It happened on 8.23am, September 11, 2001.

The  twin towers weren't built again, but made into a memorial for the hundreds of people that died.

The twin towers exploded because terrorists decided to  believe in their god and stop the war between the two countries. So they highjacked four planes. Two of the planes flew into the Twin Towers, one flew  into the pentagon.

A lot of people died in the tragedy. It all happened on September 11, 2001. The Tragedy Of The Two Towers.

The two twin towers were in New York. They were the same and super high and had the same stories in the towers. 

The date of the tragedy was on September 11, 2001.

On this day the people on the plane hijacked it. They crashed
the plane into the twin towers and made a big explosion. After the explosion, fire fighters saved a lot of people in the twin towers. A lot of people didn't get to see their loved ones again.  The plane was American. 

One of the planes hijacked that day, managed to crash into a farm. It only killed the people on the plane but not a city.

At the end of the explosion a heap of people jumped out of the twin towers. Some people survived and the rest that jumped died. Now we are waiting to get the info about if the twin towers were rebuilt.
